What’s sweeter than a daisy flower? Aren’t they just darling?? (I guess I’m someone who says that now. Darling, isn’t it just darling?? I’m okay with it đ ) Last week, I came across this adorable daisy cake (I actually ended up including it in my weekly favourites – you can check that out here) which led me on a path of all things the daisy flower and honestly I loved every bit of it.
I’m speaking specifically about the white petal yellow centre ones. I believe they’re referred to as the common daisy – I had no clue just how many types of daisies existed, by the way.
In my mind, these little flowers always represented joy. Each time I saw one, I couldn’t help but think – well, there goes that little beacon of happiness, bringing all this happy to the world! And so I was surprised (but not really) to read about what they actually symbolize. They truly are these sweet, innocent, bundles of joy radiating so much love! I mean, it’s the ‘he-loves me. he-loves-me-not’ flower – it’s gotta have something to do with the whole love thing!
Meaning
A quick google search tells me that daisies most commonly symbolize innocence and purity. Which I can totally understand. Apparently, this stems from an old Celtic legend that whenever an infant died, God sprinkled daisies over the earth to cheer the parents up. âšď¸ Just pulls at your heartstrings, doesn’t it? And also makes total sense.
Some other meanings I found associated with this flower include:
- New Beginnings
- Youthfulness
- Simplicity
- Cheerfulness
- Joy
- Childbirth
- Motherhood
Which is also why it’s commonly used in nurseries and given as gifts to new mommas! Awww
With daisies on the brain, I’m sharing all things this sweet flower. Browse through for some serious daisy aesthetic aka little bursts of happy. I hope this inspires you to seek joy in random little things today. Have a happy day, loves! xx, Amanda
