Dark Chocolate-Covered Orange Slices — Name a yummier pair than orange and chocolate. SO GOOD.
If you’re a regular reader here, you’ll know that my love of oranges, in general, kicks into high gear over the holiday season. There’s something so nostalgic about them for me. I can’t think of a Christmas growing up without them somewhere in the house.
Because of this, you’ll see a lot of them around if you were to come visit me. In the way my space is decorated, to the food I’m eating, orange is bound to make a feature – again and again.
Which is why, when I came across this recipe by Craving Something Healthy for dark chocolate-covered orange slices the other day, I just couldn’t pass up on the chance to give them a try.
And you know what – SO. WORTH. IT.
These little slices are just what I was missing. Orange meets dark chocolate, and the rest is history.
And they’re healthy-ish too! Oranges are a good source of vitamin C, and dark chocolate is a powerful source of antioxidants.
So, if you’re looking for a new way to enjoy this heavenly pair, give this recipe a try! You can grab Craving Something Healthy’s full recipe here. And see how I made mine below.
Happy Tasty Tuesday, friends! xx, Amanda

Here’s what I used
- 4 oranges, washed
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups sugar
- 8 oz bittersweet chocolate, chopped
- sea salt
Here’s how I made them
#1 – In a medium-size pan, bring water and sugar to a simmer. Stir to ensure sugar gets dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool. Once cool, transfer to a large bowl.
#2 – Cut oranges into 1/4-inch slices and add them to the bowl of sugar water, making sure they’re all equally submerged. Refrigerate overnight.
#3 – Line a baking sheet in parchment paper and add a wire rack. Place sliced oranges on rack and into a 180-degree oven. Bake for 3 hours or until slices are mostly dry and still a little bit tacky. Check on them periodically, turn them, to make sure they’re evenly baking and not getting overly dry. Once done, remove from oven and let cool.
#4 – Bring a medium pot filled with just less than half of water to a simmer. Add the chopped chocolate to a heatproof bowl that’s big enough to sit on top of the pot. At low heat, stir the chocolate until melted and smooth.
#5 – Dip half of each orange slice in melted chocolate and lay on baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Lightly sprinkle the chocolate with salt. Refrigerate until chocolate hardens. Enjoy!
