One positive aspect of staying home during this time of quarantine is that I’ve been able to cook and bake a whole lot more. I’ve always loved to do it – being a total foodie after all – but I’ve enjoyed it so much more during this time of self-isolation. And I’m not quite sure why.
Maybe it’s because food has now been stripped down to its basic form?? You know, all about its flavour and the comfort it brings us versus the restaurant we’re eating it in or the group of friends we have around us. It’s just me and the food – and I’ve never appreciated it more.
To me, it’s simple: food is home, food is comfort, food is love. And this couldn’t be more evident now with the state of the world we’re in. It’s this simple part of our day that we can control, and it serves as an enjoyable distraction from the fear and panic that surrounds us.
Have you been cooking or baking more lately? What are some of your current go-to favourite recipes??
