We’ve all been there, dreading to get out of bed to face another day of hurt and regret. Let’s face it – bad days are inevitable. But the question is – will you let the bad day hinder you or strengthen you?
The truth is you get to choose.
I’ve had my share of days where things just felt a little too tough to deal with – I felt lost, I felt like a failure, I wanted to stay in my safe space – which most times meant my bed, under the covers, just hoping I’d sleep my pain away and wake up to a brand new day.
It wasn’t until I began to realize, over time and with a lot of learning and practice, that despite feeling lost and beaten down – there was one thing I was in control of, and that was how I reacted to my circumstances.
As simple as this concept is – it gave me tremendous confidence. I began to feel empowered again. I felt prepared to take on challenges because I knew that I would pull through every time. I learned not to be so hard on myself and that it’s okay to have these days. I learned that I could choose to feel the pain without letting it break me; I could choose to use the pain to help me grow and learn.
We know life can throw brutal challenges our way, but we can either fall victim or become the hero of our own story.
So, the next time you feel the onset of another lousy day, put on your metaphorical superhero cape (or literal – this is a judgement-free zone!) and bring it on! You are strong, and you are capable of turning your pain into power.
And, if you need a little added inspiration, I’ve put together 20 quotes to get you out of a funk. These will motivate you to persevere and continue to push through towards living the life of your absolute dreams!
